SisuROCK - Fully integrated hyperspectral imaging core logger

SisuROCK is a fully automated hyperspectral imaging instrument for easy, high speed scanning of drill cores and other geological samples. It is capable of imaging a single drill core in a high resolution mode or a whole core box in a high speed scanning mode. Hyperspectral imaging data of a whole core box is acquired in less than 15 s, highly improving productivity in drill core analysis.

SisuROCK Hyperspectral Core Imaging Workstation

- - isom.jpgThis state of the art imaging workstation is developed to close-to production like environment. It can be used in daily basis when large number samples need to classified and quantified. Besides being developed for this purpose sisuROCK is also versatile tool for various research and development purposes.  With different sensor technology and their combinations this workstation can be used for numerous applications. As a default this core logger is equipped with mineral-rich SWIR (1000-2500 nm) range and it can be accompanied with either RGB or VNIR sensors. These are used for high resolution color imagery. Thermal imaging is also available.

These workstations are more than just hyperspectral sensors. They are truly workstations. Specim has used all its expertise to select optimized components for imaging, illumination, sample handling and data acquisition. The purpose has been to create sisuROCK which is straightforward to configure, simple to use, and has the fastest data capture rate of any imaging core logging solution on the market.

SisuRock in equipped with Specim’s advanced data acquisition software RockDAQ. The analysis part is done in separate software. Options are Envi or Evince. Envi has roots in remote sensing data processing and it well known among scientists and geological experts. Evince from UmBio is a powerful chemometrics and image processing software package

AngloGold Ashanti: Hyperspectral core imaging at the La Colosa Prospect, Colombia

Testimonial: Hyperspectral core imaging at AngloGold Ashanti

"We have found the mineralogical information that can be extracted from NIR hyperspectral core imagers to be invaluable. The hyperspectral data offer a complete, continuous dataset and so form a reference layer for all other data, including geochemistry, geophysics and metallurgy. Integration of all these parameters provides the means to produce robust geological and metallurgical models, which are critical for decision making at the feasibility stage and offer substantial cost savings at the mining stage. As a simple example, savings of just $10/oz translate to $100 million for a 10 Moz orebody, and having the right models will inform the decision to proceed or walk away from an advanced project. We have recently purchased a Specim sisuROCK instrument, which will allow to image large volumes of core at a very competitive cost."
